The conference aims to provide an opportunity for the forensic psychiatry community to come together to discuss and share research opportunities, insights and findings with colleagues.

Together we will set a common goal to increase our understanding of emerging issues and research methodologies relating to the field of forensic psychiatry. We hope you will engage in discussions, share your ideas, and find new friends among our guests and conference delegates.

The Nordic Symposium on Forensic Psychiatry invites you to present your findings and latest research.
The theme of the symposium is «Forensic psychiatry across the lifespan»

On Thursday 22nd of august we will host parallel sessions where you can present your research findings and insights.  Each 60 min session will be divided in three individual presentations or in a symposium format where a group (min 3 individual authors) will present under a common title.

Oral presentations

As an individual presentation:

15 min for presentation + 5 minutes for questions. 


As part of a symposium:

A total of 60 minutes including questions are at your disposal. A themed title for this session is to be included in the abstract submission. Submissions are to be sent in one e-mail with a symposium name. The symposium proposal must also include contact information for 

Poster presentations

There will be a poster session during day 2 of the conference. The posters will be displayed through day 2 of the conference.


Send us your abstract (up to 500 words) with the following details attached:

  • Format: Individual presentation/symposium or poster
  • Title of presentation, overall theme
  • Presenter – contact information
  • Author and co-author(-s) of paper/symposium members

All abstracts will be taken into consideration by the scientific advisory board and evaluated continuously. Confirmation of acceptance will be mailed to you as soon as possible.

By Bergen Airport (BGO)

Bergen Airport is one of the busiest airports in Norway. It sits at Flesland, 12 km southwest of Bergen city center. It has 1 passenger terminal and 1 helicopter terminal. There is a free Wi-Fi service at the airport. There are several transfer options to reach central Bergen.

A taxi takes around 20-25 minutes. The taxi stands are right outside the terminal.

The Light Rail – known as Bybanen – is a convenient and economical mode of transport to get to downtown Bergen. It takes around 30 minutes. The station is outside the terminal building. (This service will take you to the Bergen city center. 10 minutes walk to the conference venue)

The Airport Express bus – also known as the Flybussen – takes around 30 minutes to reach the main bus terminal in Bergen. You can find the bus stop by turning left on leaving the terminal building. (This service stops at the conference venue.)

Car rental agencies can be found in the arrivals hall.

By train

Coming to Bergen by train from Oslo is a spectacular ride through Norway’s varied landscapes. It is a 7 hour long ride. When you get to Bergen you have a 1,2 km walk. There are taxi stands just outside the train station.

By car

We recommend using your preferred GPS navigation device to get to the venue:
